This young woman likes to present a facade of calm, projecting the illusion that she has everything under control, often seemingly well-prepared and well-researched in any given situation. Despite this demeanor, Colette is known to be impulsive and quick to frustrate due to several different things like her plans not going like she wanted them to or losing, not that many would notice. Often what looks like carefully deliberate decisions on her part are emotions she keeps under the surface.

Colette has a tendency of subtly teasing and making fun of people, creating a little game out of it to see if they would notice. However, when confronted with hostility, she will rarely show anger and would be more likely to cooly find ways to deflect the other party's insults back at them, often exaggerating her words for effect when feeling short with someone.

She doesn't trust easily. With her line of work, it's rather difficult to merely put your trust on someone so callously. Colette is very slow to let in on her true feelings but when you do get her trust, you would know that she cares deeply but would rarely allow herself any kind of emotional outburst. She also has a tendency to being overconfident about her own abilities and often overestimates them, causing her to plunge into situations she's not really prepared for. But she would never retreat from a challenge and would rather volunteer herself to do any dangerous work rather than letting someone risk themselves on her behalf.

Coming from a well-established family, Colette had a rather peaceful life; two open-minded, loving parents who lavished her with attention, close friends and excellent academic accomplishments.

(With such an accomplished life, it makes one wonder how on Earth she ended up in a "Family".)

Despite having lovely parents, it was often lonely to be an only child and Colette took solace in friendships. And as the typical routine goes; squabbles and dramas, she eventually learned that relationships tended to come then go and dearly treasured the ones that stayed. Making new friends were rather difficult as she had grown to be careful and cautious about letting people in, but stayed devotedly loyal to the ones that breeched past.

So it had come with little surprise on her later actions.

Francine, her best friend, was a talented lawyer that was storming her way to prestige and success.

(But all it took was one man to shut down her entire career.)

Money was really all it took these days to convince a corrupt government. Money and blackmail. With such influential connections, Francine was accused of a crime she didn't commit and was barely given a fighting chance before she was sent to the slammer with her future in shambles.

(To say Colette was furious was putting it lightly. She was outraged. Livid. Turbulent. She was pissed.)

At the time, Colette attempted to do things the easy way. Negotiation. Perhaps she could convince the people involved that there was a misunderstanding, only to quickly find out that the justice system just didn't work out that way.

Suffice to say, she took legal matters in her own hands.

She dug up information about this man, the one who convicted someone she cared about, and learned of the many other horrendous things he had commited. There were several more cases about people's lives he's ruined, some of them sharing similar cases with Francine, and many varying cases in others. She called them up and listened to their stories and gradually became more vindictive in her mission.

At the time, she was majoring in psychology. Colette used this to her advantage and eased out the information she needed, switching her courses to criminal studies and began tirelessly working to become a lawyer rather than her prior goals. She began taking cases, some which many would say were far too advanced for her adequacy only to stun them all with her fluidity in her cases.

(She was a woman on a mission and nothing was going to stop her until she takes him down. Down. Down.)

It was in one special case that briefly tied to that Man that something interesting happened.

It involved one stubborn misogynist that insisted on being difficult, barely managing to grasp on the fraying edges of her patience, she demanded that he tell the truth. And to everyone's surprise; he did. He responded with horrifying detail of his crimes and what process it took to do it. He seemed confused himself and looked like he was struggling to shut up but he just couldn't.

(Colette later admitted to enjoy watching him get sent to jail, much to her own surprise. Strange, she usually kept those thoughts to herself.)

She brushed it off as nothing at first but eventually it became something pressing enough to take her notice. It started out small; she would tease her colleagues and friends, everyone seeming startled when they would legitimately answer. Then it was arguments, more cases, and Colette eventually accepted that she had a strange power to force the truth out.

The idea wasn't too far-fetched. Certain people just had special abilities, but the last she'd heard of it was about a Family. With knowledge of her new abilities, Colette made sure to be more careful with her words lest other people come to the same conclusion. She knew there were probably several suspicions but none with solid proof considering she never did it with the same person twice.

She continued on with her cases and tackled a specific one that was faintly connected to that Man. Despite convicting him, he got away due to connections. Naturally, Colette didn't take this news happily.

After it continued to happen several more times, she was frustrated enough that she began to seek out other sources. Influential people with resources she could borrow and that's when she gained more and more awareness about this mafia, one that houses people with unique abilities.

(And that's where she hesitated, was she really doing this?)

And looked.

(A curious place in Italy. An alley way filled with shops. An intricate symbol. A charming man with a hidden agenda.)

★ TLDR: Colette had a pretty simple life up until her best friend's life got turned upside down and couldn't do anything about it because of a corrupt government. She takes legal matter in her own hands and eventually finds out about a special little ability, only to find out that's not enough and needs something to back her up just in case, seeks out the mafia.
